Kyoei Steel recycles steel scrap using electric furnaces, ensuring a sustainable production cycle. The new Yamaguchi office, themed "An Office Embraced in Recycled Steel," embodies this transformation. The exterior design draws inspiration from the stacked billets seen at the factory, while the interior uses locally sourced angle steel and rebars as finishing materials. Barcode and QR code motifs, symbolic of Kyoei Steel’s brand, are woven throughout the entrance, corridors, staircases, and office spaces, harmonizing steel with ambient light. The lighting design transforms these intricate digital patterns into three-dimensional light effects, introducing depth, movement, and a dynamic spatial experience. This project integrates and renews the aging office and welfare facilities to enhance operational efficiency and foster a greater sense of pride among employees. It redefines steel’s architectural potential beyond traditional usage, making the company’s identity tangible throughout the entire space and symbolizing its commitment to continuous evolution and sustainable innovation.
