Huachiao Vibrant Sports Park, located in Kunshan, Suzhou, opened in March 2024. Inspired by the flowing sleeves of Kunqu opera, the 6,000 sqm park merges traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern sports. A sculptural white “ribbon,” made of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), forms the central skate zone—combining graceful visual expression with a high-performance surface. The park includes a full basketball court, a training court, ping pong tables, a children's play area, a running track, and various rest areas, all connected by intuitive circulation paths. Designed for all ages and abilities, the park prioritizes accessibility, with ramps, seating, and open spaces that support inclusive community use. Ecological strategies include native planting to enhance biodiversity, reduce maintenance, and regulate the microclimate. As a neighborhood landmark, the park reimagines public space as a cultural, athletic, and ecological hub—blending heritage, movement, and social interaction into a vibrant, shared experience.
