The Yuyuan Road Historic Area is one of Shanghai's most representative cultural landscapes, holding a significant place in the city's modern history. Our project site is strategically located at the eastern gateway to this area within the Jing'an District, adjacent to the iconic Jing'an Temple.

Our design positions the future Yuyuan Plaza as a primary venue for public life and a forum for dialogue between history and modernity. The plan rationally organizes traffic to create a 24/7 space shared by pedestrians and vehicles, all while expressing a unique Shanghai flair. Grounded in deep historical and site analysis, our "micro-renewal" strategy employs precise, "acupuncture-style" interventions.

Inspired by the cultural legacy of the Paramount Ballroom, we envision the plaza as a cinematic and vibrant public realm—an open and inclusive stage for the city. This vision is guided by a core principle of "Integration & Revelation": We integrate the high-energy commercial atmosphere from the east with the refined character of Yuyuan Road, while simultaneously revealing the site's profound humanistic heritage through curated materials and framed views, ensuring the plaza thrives as a mode
