ESCA embodies the ethos of “Simply Mediterranean,” bringing the understated yet sophisticated spirit of the Mediterranean to Izmir IstinyePark. Led by Michelin-starred chef Osman Sezener, the restaurant was envisioned to convey the warmth, sincerity, and layered lifestyle of Mediterranean culture within an unconventional layout. Balanced proportions and a coherent scheme unify technical volumes, the main dining hall, and service areas.
At the center stands a sculptural 360° bar with marble and bronze details—both a social hub and the focal point of the design. Circulation flows fluidly around it, connecting dining hall, bar, private room, and terrace.
Originally an outdoor terrace, the main hall now feels like an interior through a carefully chosen palette: wood panels, travertine flooring, earthy tones, and textiles shift atmospheres from day to night, while tropical greenery carries Izmir’s coastal spirit inside. The private room adds theatricality with a mural and dense lighting, while the open terrace embodies Mediterranean sociability.
Sunlight enlivens the space by day, concealed lighting warms it at night. ESCA tells a refined Mediterranean story by blurring boundaries be
