Bauhaus influenced interior design peels back to reveal the past at Kimpton Santo. This design carefully preserves a historic German school and celebrates the materials and textures particular to San Antonio, Texas. Discerning travelers and locals alike appreciate how the design preserves and interacts with its historic layers to impart a distinct cultural experience.
Historic architecture is preserved in the suites, restaurant and bar. Exposed rafters and parts of the old brick walls peek through the clean, modern interior of the open two-story restaurant. The suites, part of the historic German-English school, continue this visual language with a modern design that selectively gives way to historic touches, permeated with finish drawn from local crafts. Guest rooms found in the new build tower reflect local textiles in their carpets, the building’s stone in their flooring and pops of color for the finishes. The tower’s rooftop bar is an open-air experience with flickering lanterns that can be seen from the street and up-lighted columns in terra cotta color. The lobby incorporates traditional materials in modern forms as it draws people from S. Alamo into its grounded experience.
