The ancient village housing the project is nestled among mountains, where a legendary phoenix tree stands in the northwest hills. Moreover, for over two millennia, mountain spring waters have nourished the settlement. Inspired by this image of the phoenix drinking from the sacred spring, the design draws deeply from nature and tradition.
As part of a broader plan to revitalize a sparsely populated historic village into a tourism resort, the project serves as a welcoming gathering facility, providing spaces for conferences and corporate training.
Importantly, the design lets nature, light, and time become the main forces shaping spatial experience, rather than being controlled by the designer. Consequently, all materials are used in their authentic state, embracing the classical Chinese philosophy of “natural beauty without artificial embellishment.”
A triangular hall connects diverse functional spaces, while distinctive skylights create dynamic light and shadow inside. Furthermore, the building’s expansive façades open fully toward ecological fields and forested mountains, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscape and reflect on humanity’s harmonious coexistence with nature.
