Inspired by the culture of southern Fujian, China, the ZhangPu XiYard is designed using traditional Chinese elements such as brick carving and red bricks. Brick carving is an art of carving on a square inch brick surface and is one of China's representative folk arts; the soil in southern Fujian is rich in iron trioxide, which allows for the firing of brilliant red bricks, a material that is compatible with the humid, typhoon-prone climate of southern Fujian. The designers respect the cultural history yet respect the natural environment, revitalize traditional skills and telling the story of southern Fujian, China to visitors.
